How To Add Bottle Cage Mounts To A Bike Frame

I show how to add bottle cage mounts to a bike frame that doesn’t have braze-ons or other mountings. Such as vintage bicycles or maybe a bike that only has mounts for one bottle cage, but you want to add a second bottle cage. This is done by drilling the frame and installing rivnuts (rivet nuts). This is for steel or aluminum frames. Do not do this on a carbon fiber frame. You assume all responsibility and risk if you choose to do this.

By the way, you may want to overhaul the bottom bracket after doing this to clean out any metal debris that maybe have fallen down there. Unless you have a sealed cartridge BB, then you don’t need to worry.
