I show you how to convert a bike from 27″ wheels to 700c wheels. It’s an easy upgrade. You pretty much just have to remove the old 27″ wheels and mount the 700c wheels (assuming the hub width is the same). The main issue is the brakes. 700c wheels are smaller in diameter. So the brake pads need to be moved down. If the brakes on the bike won’t allow the pads to move low enough, you will need to replace them with “long reach” brakes. In the video, I install a pair of Shimano BR R450 long reach brakes. The bike is a 1985 Raleigh Team USA. BTW, I was replacing a 6 speed wheel with a 6 speed wheel. If the bike has a 5 speed wheel, the hub width is 120mm. A 6/7 speed wheel has a hub width of 126mm. And a 8/9/10 speed hub with have a width of 130mm.
