Posted by on in Brakes

I show how to center side-pull caliper brakes on a road bike where one pad hits the rim before the other.

I have some diacompe Royal Compe single pull brakes and the left side does not return to position when I release the lever. Any suggestions? I would like to keep using them on the Trek I purchased to keep. A new set of dual pivot will solve the problem but I don’t want to throw money at something I can fix. Thanks,

Try cleaning them well. Lubricate the pivot point with some tri flow or something like that. Try replace the cable and housing as they may be creating resistance.
